Minnow Clapham

Snug, tasteful and deeply pretty, Minnow, is the newest addition to The Pavement in Clapham Common. This neighbourhood restaurant is in good company with The Dairy just down the road, their perfectly executed dishes are of a comparable standard. There is significant eye to detail here (not just in the food), down to the little vases of wild flowers on each table, the beautiful artwork on the walls and the warm glow from the Art Deco lamps above the bar. Perhaps the most surprising detail is the bill, this sort of cooking shouldn’t cost this little.

I’m sure the team are on a charm offensive as they’ve just opened and it’s totally working. I was absolutely delighted by an additional gift from the kitchen of crispy kale, pureed caramelised onion and granola (wonderful combination of textures and flavours, beautifully presented), which I wasn’t charged for and several members of the team told me how well behaved my baby was, which as we all know, is the quickest way to a mothers heart.

What’s good? The set lunch menu is an absolute steal at £12 for two courses but I loved the Beef shin, black mooli & smoked pork skin from the a la carte menu especially. The desserts are magnificent too.

Kid friendly? They are very willing but short on space, at the time of writing this review Minnow had been open 6 days, so the high chairs were still waiting to be delivered.

✗baby change facilities

✓highchairs available – coming soon

✓cool with breastfeeding

✗loads of other parents

✓space for buggies – there is some outdoor space and a little room inside, if you’re local, I’d sling it instead

✗children’s menu

✗toys/play area
