Stagolee’s is an easy and unpretentious place to eat. People with kids aren’t really their demographic but if a restaurant that’s serving proper southern soul food can fit a buggy in, then wild horses couldn’t stop me from eating there.
The head chef is a native Texan and it shows in both the menu and the portion size. Wear loose trousers. They’ve got a well stocked bar and are happy to concoct something particular for you if it’s not on the menu but the nicest touch has to be the huge squeezy bottles of maple syrup plonked on to the table when your food arrives. There’s space for maybe two buggies at a push here, so give them warning if you’re bringing one.
What’s good? The fat nasty, the hot fried chicken with waffled french toast and the southern fried apples were all bangin. BANGIN. Also the homemade hot sauce. *fire emoji* We were there for brunch but the supper menu – especially the snack section all look incredible.
Kid friendly? They’re willing but not totally able. If you’re babe is ready for a highchair, get a sitter.
