Wright Brothers Battersea

The fifth site of Wright Brothers and probably the most appropriately placed due to its waterside location has just opened in the Battersea Power Station complex. I’ve got a real soft spot for Battersea Power Station, having had it as a backyard view when I first moved to London fourteen years ago. I like what has become of the area. Combine a meal here with a trip to the park and you’ve got a very nice day out.

Wright Brothers is a warm, welcoming brasserie style seafood restaurant with wonderful lighting and beautiful views. There are a few guarantees with new developments such as this, 1. a food journalist will call the whole development soulless. 2. by law there will be an accessible loo and in most cases baby change facilities as default. It is hard for new developments to have souls, souls take time to grow, with a million footsteps trod across a restaurants floor. New means clean, accessible and friendly, and as someone with baby it is honestly music to my ears.

We visited Wright Brothers during their soft launch so there were still a few kinks to be worked out but the restaurant were eager for feedback and very willing to accommodate. They are renowned for their oysters but I am not best placed to comment due to a greatly mourned allergy to some shellfish. Coupled with the fact that I’d had a tough week and was in need of comfort, which came in the form of burrata & delica pumpkin, steak and a chocolate fondant, I ordered everything but what they’re know for and everything was very agreeable.

What’s good? That burrata and delica pumpkin, the Hake, the tempura broccoli.

Kid friendly? Very much so.
