The Store Croydon

I’m breathing a massive sigh of relief because finally a properly nice place to eat has opened locally to my house. I’m so happy I could cry.

It won’t be the first or last time I lament living in Croydon ok? Sorry. I know we’re getting a Westfield but not for like 5 years and in the interim it is slim pickings. Veeno started a trend of higher end eating options in the Cronx and woah boy, hello The Store! You are a sight for sore eyes, my friend.

The pub (because technically it’s a pub) is gorgeous, in the glamorous shabby run down original features and lots of interesting lighting, kind of way. The music is loud enough to cover squawking and it’s jazzy/bluesy/easy like a Sunday morning. The light in this place is just nice. Like its got a filter on it.

It’s billed as small plates but actually they’re not that small so don’t go over board. In terms of presentation and flavour, Croydon is seriously not even going to know what to do with this. Did I mention I could cry?

What’s good? The gnocchi, the pork belly, the macaroni cheese croquettes – everything. They do brunch too. We’ll be back. We’re local.

Kid friendly? Yep. Only a few highchairs though. Also dog friendly and just plain friendly.
