Farzi Cafe Haymarket

There are a number of high end fine dining Indian options in London right now but for my money I think Farzi Cafe is the most child friendly. I should mention money though because unfortunately it is not cheap.

The service is excellent and they seemed genuinely delighted to have Max dining with them. Our host was 6 months pregnant and spent a lot of time chatting with him. He was quite enamoured of her tbh but he’s like that with women in restaurants these days. Farzi has put a lot of thought into its vast menu and the dishes are plated beautifully and quite creatively. It’s hard to make a bowl of chicken tikka masala look pretty but I think they’ve managed it.

There were several other tables with children present and there’s a great kids menu here. A high chair was quickly whisked over to our table as soon as we arrived and there’s space for buggies too. In terms of atmosphere it’s pleasant. Loud enough to cover noisy children and comfortable booths available. The dishes are organised to be mostly sharing plates although some are larger. We left incredibly full and a little poorer than I was anticipating given the bill was over £100 and only one alcoholic drink had been ordered.

What’s good? The lamb chops. The chicken tikka masala with Cornish cruncher naan. The potato buns. The kids menu.

Kid friendly? Very. But keep it for a special occasion because it’s spendy.
