Brickwood Balham

Brickwood is a small chain of rustic style cafes based in South London with an antipodean influence – think bottles of L&P and Tim Tams on the menu. We visited the Balham branch on a weekday afternoon when we couldn’t get into Milk, two doors down. It’s a simple menu of toasties, brunch fare and pastries.

Whats good? The Smokestack Toastie – Free range BBQ pulled pork w/ chipotle, mayo, American cheese & pickles on sourdough. Satisfyingly gooey and crisp simultaneously.

It’s worth noting that if you’re looking for a cocktail to go with your brunch that these guys don’t do booze.

Kid friendly? Yep, they let me take up a bench for 8 with my buggy and two friends.
