The Palomar Restaurant Chinatown

This place is the kind of cramped central London restaurant where a woman with an arse like mine can do a lot of damage. You absolutely could not get a buggy in here. If you have a small person who is happy to stay in a sling throughout your meal it is in theory possible to dine here with a baby but I would save Palomar for a baby free day.

This restaurant is not the easiest place to get a reservation at short notice or at cool times like say 7.30pm – sorry to get all Zoolander on you but Palomar is so hot right now. It’s very luxe inside plus the service and food are excellent. I took my husband here on an early evening ‘date night’ that was booked a few weeks in advance. Him indoors doesn’t hugely like middle eastern cuisine and even he admitted that actually it was very good. Owing to the fact that Palomar is very popular, there was a queue at 5.30 when the restaurant opened and not a single empty seat by 6. Service and turnover is fast and we felt a little rushed.

What’s good? The ironed chicken thighs, the polenta, the cocktails.

Kid friendly? Nope. There’s just not enough space.

✗baby change facilities

✗highchairs available

✗cool with breastfeeding – the majority of the restaurant is counter space which I personally wouldn’t feel comfortable feeding my baby at, if you’ve got a little on in a sling and you’re seated at a table in the back you’ll be ok.

✗loads of other parents

✗space for buggies

✗children’s menu

✗toys/play area
