Cub might be the most Hoxton restaurant to ever be in Hoxton. It’s concept put together by a much lauded bartender, the restaurant is low waste and predominantly vegeatarian. They run a set menu only and it is explained/justified at great length before each item is placed before you.
I wanted to eat here because it sounded unusual. And it was. But was it good? I don’t know man. The further I get away from the meal the more disappointed I feel. They said they had dehydrated and then rehydrated some beetroot so it felt meatier to chew and as they said this I nodded and smiled and now I’m not sure if this as actually sort of a wanky con job. Like something out of Nathan Barley. But then I guess everything is like something out of Nathan Barley now so maybe that’s what people like.
This is not a place to take children. The restaurant is extraordinarily narrow and just too hip. I think they’d be upset.
What’s good? The cocktails were excellent. I really don’t know about anything else we were served.
