Bondi Beach Club Kingston

If you, like me, grew up in Australia or perhaps were obsessed with Home & Away or Neighbours as a teenager (fun fact, I once had an audition for Neighbours, I sadly didn’t get the gig but I like to imagine what might have been) then on entering Kingston’s Bondi Beach Club you will do a delighted squeal and begin singing the theme song to one of those shows or Peter Allen’s I still call Australia Home. I know the words to all three so you can imagine how thrilled they were when I walked in this weekend.

This place is a proper homage to the Sydney surfing suburb. Or maybe just the Walkabout does brunch. They’ve even labelled the toilets ‘dunnies’ and they’ve got tins of milo stacked up by the door. It’s also right on the Thames which I guess if you squint could pass for the Pacific Ocean (?). There were loads of babies there when we went and although they don’t have a kids menu you’ll find something that pleases, a tim tam slam shake perhaps?

What’s good? The menu made me fully homesick. They’ve got dim sims and vegemite tarts and burgers with beetroot and fried eggs and pineapple and everything we ate was lovely in a nice brunch place kind of way.

Kid friendly? Yeah mate. Fair dinkum etc.
