Sugo Glasgow

I don’t remember why I’ve not reviewed Paesano Pizza. Maybe I didn’t have enough good images or I was giving myself a break or something. I don’t know but Paesano is the Franco Manca of Glasgow, an incredibly easy, cheap and decent place to eat with or without kids so I was really looking forward to the opening of their newest venture into fresh pasta, Sugo.

Smack bang in the middle of town in huge space with lots of neon, is Sugo. You can’t book but the kitchen and table turn over is fast. If you can, wait in for your table, they’ll seat you more quickly than they estimate. The menu is simple and straight to the Point and the dishes are made for sharing so think 3 plates of pasta between two.

Is Sugo the Padella of Scotland? Not quite. Is it good value and delicious. Yes. All the pasta we tried was lovely, fresh and well cooked but I have no idea why they’ve omitted a dish as obvious as cacio e Pepe from their menu. If you know of somewhere in Scotland doing what is both the hippest pasta of 2018/19 and also my personal favourite please leave their details in the comments.

What’s good? The cannolo, the agnolotti, the beef ragu, the pace of the place.

Kid friendly? Yep. Loads of families in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and an ample supply of high chairs.
