I’m currently gearing up for my first holiday alone with my husband for about 3 years. We’re headed to Bologna and Venice in September so for the moment we’re mildly obsessed with Italy and getting away and eating lots of pasta and drinking lots of wine and breathing out. Visiting Campania in Hackney for our second wedding anniversary seemed fitting.
Campania is small. Like really small and you can’t book online which always makes me go WAT? I have to speak to a PERSON ON THE PHONE? Well. We’re not going there then. In the end we just turned up and they sat us at the end of a party of 6 which was maybe less romantic than we were hoping for but it’s my own fault for not wanting to use the phone.
This place has a restaurant cat. If I could think of one thing that would really give you a clear picture of what I restaurant is about. There’s a cat. They let you grate your own Parmesan also. I did not understand what anything on the menu was and had to have it explained as it was pretty much all in Italian. It is small and rustic and it feels like maybe you’re in Italy and not Hackney.
What’s good? Honestly everything was superb.
Kid friendly? Not at all. Do not do it. It is too small and too lovely and some places should not allow small fries.
