The Frog Shoreditch

The Frog is essentially The Clove Club but for families. Handy because it’s just around the corner and about a third of the price.

The menu is a bit more fun, a bit less formal but the plating is of a similar standard, the art work more exuberant and there’s highchairs and baby change which The Clove Club obvs lacks. The Frog, ladies and gentlemen is an absolute winner of a restaurant if you want high end but you need to bring the kids.

There’s no kids menu or play area here but I challenge you to find a child who would not wolf down the sourdough and chicken butter as Max did. Play it safe and order them a portion of their own. Then you don’t have to share. Afterwards you can let them loose to run it off in the green space opposite the restaurant.

Their set lunch menu is decidedly reasonable for the quality, each course complimenting the next really well and paired delightfully with an included glass of house wine. The kitchen is open which means three things – no Ramsey-esque screaming fits at staff, cleanliness and quiet efficiency. At the end of the day speed matters when you’re dining with a two year old.

What’s good? CHEESE DOUGHNUTS. Everything else too but especially the CHEESE DOUGHNUTS.
