Ox and Finch Finneston Glasgow

On a prominent corner in Finneston where, to be fair, all the best restaurants in Glasgow tend to be, is Bib Gourmand winner Ox and Finch. I’ve had them on my list for aaaages, well before we moved here, their small plate menu sounded incredible AND they have a decent kids menu too. All of Finneston feels a lot like Brooklyn to me, and Ox and Finch has the same kind of vibe. I took my friend Sophia there whilst she was over for a visit. When we first met we both living in NYC, so it felt fitting.

There’s lots of booth seating and mustard leather, as well as a bar which sadly I am still not partaking in due to the impending baby but its all dark wood and trendy waiters in nice half aprons. I usually get really cranky when waitstaff don’t let me order basically everything on the menu because I really feel they are underestimating me but in the case at Ox and Finch, they are right. All the meaty sharing dishes are big and filling and you probably won’t need chips too. I did not. Although our waiter did come back to check if I had more room.

I ate here sans bambino but there were other babies present in highchairs at other tables, there’s room for buggies and the aforementioned kids menu.

What’s good? The lamb shoulder, hanger steak and gnocchi were all wonderful. The milk chocolate and jasmine tea cremeux extraordinary. The whole menu is pretty much faultless. It’s quite fish heavy in parts though and we skipped those parts because I seem unable to tolerate fish whilst pregnant.

Kid friendly? Indeed.
