Bao Fitzrovia

I am a long term fan of Bao. The street food pop up that introduced me to Taiwanese food in 2012 as part of Kerb that was so good that it’s team now have 3 restaurants.

The problem with Bao Soho is that there are no reservations and space is very tight and minimalist and probably designed for people who are thinner than me. Too tight even for a babyzen yoyo. However, Bao Fitzrovia is an entirely different story. There is more room, not much more room mind but more. There’s also some outdoor seating and you can book which means you can earn them in advance that you’ll be bringing a baby Bao eater along with you.

There was more than one table there with kids sitting inside when we dined but we opted for the outdoor seating (they’ve got heaters), more space, better lighting for me to take photos and most importantly cars for Max to look at. Because he loves all vehicles these days.

The service was a bit mixed because we were the only outside table and Bao are perpetually busy but don’t let it stop you because the food is too good.

What’s good? The black cod Bao and the confit Bao and the 40 day aged beef rump cap. The rice. All of it. Ooft.
