Petersham Nurseries Covent Garden

The second outpost from the Richmond crew who bring you essentially the poshest garden centre you’ve ever been to. Only this time in central London.

We visited The Petersham just before Christmas and probably because of this service was a bit manic and the restaurant was incredibly loud. They’re happy to accept children but they did look sort of panicked when we arrived with a buggy and our table wasn’t ready on time. They did however bring bread out for Max ASAP which makes me feel like they know that it is important to feed the kids promptly. There’s no kids menu but they’re happy to make plain smaller portions of their pasta dishes.

In terms of decor it’s beautiful. Filled with plants and interested art and a lot of vintage glass furniture but they sort of stuck us in a corner so we couldn’t see much of it.

What’s good? The langoustine. The upside down pear and thyme tart. The duck. The pastas.

Kid friendly? Yes but they remain wary.
